A Guide for Your First Competition

So you’ve built some muscle, hit some fitness goals and you’re ready to take it to the next level and enter your first comp – well done! Follow our tips below on how to get started and prepare for your first show.

MAKE A PLAN

Allow yourself enough time to prepare for the show. Make a training and nutrition plan, or hire a coach to assist you with this process.

CHOOSE YOUR DIVISION

Work out which division suits your look.

We offer Bikini, Wellness, Figure, Fitness and Womens Physique for female competitiors, and Mens Physique, Classic Physique and Bodybuilding for male competitors.

RULES

CONSIDER THE COSTS

There are expenses included in competing. These include:

NPC Membership: $100 USD
IFBB Pro League Registration: $150
Additional Divisions: $100 each
Stage Photos: from $100 (optional)

There are other variable expenses to consider, such as coaching fees, gym membership, posing suit or trunks, shoes (bikini, wellness, figure and fitness) tanning, hair and make up, tickets for friends and family members, and travel expenses if you are travelling for your show.

ORDER YOUR POSING SUIT OR TRUNKS AND SHOES

There are many places to order new or second hand posing suits or trunks.

Each division has variations in costume:

Bikini: 2-piece swimsuit with tied back. May be any colour and decorated or plain. Clear heels must be worn. Jewelery may be worn but should not cover or distract the physique. Earrings, bracelets, rings and piercings are all acceptable.

Wellness: The same as bikini, however “European” style bikinis may also be worn.

Figure: 2-piece swimsuit with cross-over back. Shoe and jewelery requirements are the same as bikini.
